COEL. Learning Journey, Characteristics of Effective Learning
The COEL report tracks the different characteristics of learning that you recognise a child using, during observations in your setting. You can use the report to inform you of the approaches that a child is using, and to ensure that over time, you have seen the child explore the different approaches. If you notice that a child is not engaging in a particular approach, then this may highlight to you to look at how you are setting up an enabling environment for all children. If the child still doesn't learn through a specific approach, (then just like seeking advice for a delay in development outcomes) it may also be worthwhile seeking advice for a delay in the processing.
All of this will feed into evaluating your setting, to ensure that the children are getting the best possible approach to their learning and development. |
