Jean Ormerod
My Background
I went to university at age 29 and studied business and finance at HND level, followed by a BA (Hons) in Information Systems Management and law followed by a BSc in Computing Science followed by a PGCE in Economics and Computing.
Employments included being a classroom teacher, head of department, head of faculty and senior University lecturer, where I specialised in database management systems and human computer interaction. I so enjoyed the challenge and dynamic nature of designing and developing business software solutions that I continued with my education and completed an MSc in educational software development in 2003. As the years passed and my employments changed, one aspect never did – no matter what the position or nature of my employment, I always found an opportunity to design and build a software program in order to improve my effectiveness/efficiency. |
Having taught in each of primary/secondary and higher educational sectors for nearly 20 years, I feel that I am well versed in the extensive and continually changing admin/assessment demands that each required. For the last 10 years I have run my own software development business (DDSys and more recently CMSoftware) having in that time produced countless software programs, a great many of which businesses have come to totally depend!
DDSys - covers a wide variety of software developments, to include a hotel reservation system, and countless business invoice systems and those that cover all aspects of customer support.
CMSoftware - fundamentally covers the childminder and pre/post school sector, assisting by way of automating many aspects of the Ofsted required assessment processes (many businesses have been graded Outstanding as a direct result of using the CM Software products). The financial aspect of the software is probably now one of the most complex systems that I have ever built!
Time out for me is walking my pointer Poppy and my whippet Tam, either in Tehidy woods or along the coastal walkways; reading usually something light (in order to counter balance the many hours spent solving mathematical computations) and nothing beats relaxing to a good film - Last of the Mohicans being my all time favourite!
